Nick Carbone talks to W&R Teachers at Fall Orientation

Oxford, MS – On August 20, 2014, The Department of Writing and Rhetoric held a day-long orientation for its writing instructors in its new home in Lamar Hall. The orientation featured a welcome breakfast for 22 new writing instructors, workshops that helped all writing instructors prepare for fall classes, and it gave attendees the opportunity to listen to guest speaker, Nick Carbone, Director of Digital Teaching and Learning for Humanities Higher Education with Macmillan Education. Carbone spoke about trends in composition studies, which include teaching process-based writing, the use of big data to shape student learning, and the increasing trend of including multimodal compositions in writing assignments.
