The Center for Writing and Rhetoric had adopted electronic portfolios as a core component of the composition sequence at the University of Mississippi. The idea of electronic portfolios is rooted solidly in composition pedagogy and best practices for successful writing programs. These pages will present the rationale for the electronic portfolio program, and provide guidance for you as you create your electronic portfolio for the first time.
The CWR uses Google Sites as the platform for all WRIT 100, WRIT 101, WRIT 102, WRIT 250, and LIBA 102 electronic portfolios. We chose this because Google Sites is a real world platform with many uses outside of the the classroom, and because UM students already have full access to it through their UM Gmail accounts. The following tutorial guides will show you how to create your portfolio, customize it to reflect your personality, and share it with your instructor, and even the world.
