Fashion goes far beyond clothes: writing about fashion gives us the opportunity to study how our individual style habits shape our world. This course asks students to apply the interdisciplinary approach of scholars in fashion studies to their research and writing. Students will analyze, synthesize, and compose well-researched arguments about topics ranging from the environmental and economic impacts of our sartorial choices to sexism and cultural appropriation in the fashion industry. The multimodal nature of fashion will necessitate that students incorporate multiple modes of communication in their work for this course.
