Dr. Monroe is Chair and Assistant Professor in the Department of Writing and Rhetoric at the University of Mississippi, where he is an affiliated faculty member in the Center for the Study of Southern Culture, a steering committee member for the Sarah Isom Center for Women and Gender Studies, and director of the Willie Morris Awards for Southern Writing. His book, Heritage and Hate: Old South Words and Symbols at Southern Universities, will be published in June of 2021 as part of the Rhetoric, Culture, and Social Critique series from the University of Alabama Press.
