After completing her MA at the University of Mississippi in May of 2017, Charlsie began teaching as an adjunct instructor in the Department of Writing and Rhetoric in the fall of 2017 and at the Intensive English Program in the spring of 2017. She currently teaches first year writing and a variety of courses of intensive English. Because of her previous experience teaching overseas, she is particularly interested in the field of second language writing.
Victoria Brown
Victoria (Tori) Brown joined the Department of Writing and Rhetoric in 2018 and teaches courses in Speech and Rhetoric. Prior to joining UM she taught communication courses at Colorado State University and The University of Southern Mississippi.
Kay Butler Barefoot
Kay-Butler Barefoot joined the Department of Writing and Rhetoric in 2018 and teaches SPCH 102, Introduction to Speech, and SPCH 105, Business & Professional Speech. Prior to joining UM, Kay-Butler primarily taught communication courses for 26 years in the North Carolina Community College System. Her teaching experience also includes Business courses focusing on Business Communication and customer service/hospitality workshops. In addition, Kay-Butler has served in various roles including Interim Dean, Curriculum Coordinator, Lead Instructor and Program Coordinator.
Kay-Butler is a proud mom of 3 sons and 3 step children along with her horse, Dixie-Grace and newly adopted dog, Nala. She is an avid sports fan and enjoys power walking, reading and especially entertaining family and friends.)
